Dallas Depot Staff Transitions

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM MNA DISASTER RESPONSE!!

I am writing to share some important news about staffing at the MNA John Browne Family Disaster Response Center in Dallas TX. As you know, Rick Lenz has ably served as the manager there overseeing its development, operation, and its dedication to God’s Glory. Rick has indicated his desire is to retire this Summer for a third time!

We have been actively searching for the next manager, and in God’s good providence, we were quickly led to several capable candidates, but we choose the best one! We are now in the process of calling David Spaans as the next manager, effective August 1, 2025. David and his wife, Cheryl, have been members at several PCA congregations including Park Cities PCA Dallas (founding members), Metrocrest PCA Carrolton TX (where John Browne was a pastor), Village Seven PCA Colorado Springs CO, and now at Trinity PCA Plano, a congregation that has a rich and deep history of raising up Kingdom servants.

David loves being involved in church life and has worked in numerous ministries over the years. He began serving on MNA Disaster Response recovery sites in 2006 when he joined a team organized by John Browne in Bay St Louis MS at Lagniappe PCA (Mission).

In his role as the MNA John Browne Family Disaster Response Center, Manager, David will maintain and manage the campus which is purposed to support the relief efforts of Mission to North America Disaster Response within a 300-mile radius of Dallas TX.That area includes 147 PCA congregations in six presbyteries. The Dallas Depot operates under the same operational procedures and policy as the MNA Charles H. Jones Family Disaster Response Center in Rome GA and the MNA Mid-Atlantic Disaster Response

Center in Smithfield VA. Regional depots have a common goal of safely warehousing and marshaling relief supplies, providing relief to those in desperate need while adhering to established procedures.

We are grateful for Rick’s dedicated service to MNA for many years and the incredible ways he has been used to advance God’s Kingdom through his faithful commitment he always exemplifies.

Please join me in expressing a hearty welcome to our new co-laborer David at dspaans@ verizon.net or/and (214) 244-5054 (PCA email coming August 1). You can also find him on Facebook, go ahead and friend him. Fortunately, David is another Midwesterner MNADR staff member (although currently sequestered in Texas) who likes manhandling a smoker and eating all kinds of things. Unfortunately, David will not be joining us in Chattanooga at General Assembly this year because he will be finishing up prior commitments during that time.

Please pray for God’s blessing on David and Cheryl as they each move into this important work.

Blessings,

Arklie

Arklie Hooten

MNA ShortTerm Missions & Disaster Response Director
